On Friday (5 August), the Bangladesh top-order batter Litton Das was taken off the field on a stretcher with a suspected hamstring injury in the 1st ODI at Harare.

Das was flawless in his entire stay to contribute 81 off 89 balls, laced with eight fours and a six. He also holds the record of scoring most international runs (1396) across all formats in 2022.

The 27-year-old felt pain in his leg, during his attempt to take a single. He somehow reached the other end, and was unable to even stand or move his body, which prompted the medical staff to take a needful action.

Reportedly, Das has been ruled out of the game for at least 4-6 weeks.

Zimbabwe cruising to chase a strong total

Apart from Das, the contributions of Tamim Iqbal (62), Anamul Haque (73) and Mushfiqur Rahim (52) helped Bangladesh to post 303 on the board.

In response, Zimbabwe lost the wickets of their openers Regis Chakabva (2) and Tarisai Musakanda (4) in the first two overs. Furthermore, Wesley Madhevere (19) could not provide substantial contribution as well.

However, the in-form batters like Innocent Kaia and Sikandar Raza have already added 192+ runs for the fourth wicket, and threatening the visitors to start the series on a positive note, before Mosaddek Hossain sent Kaia (110) to the hut.

At the time of writing, the Zimbabwean are cruising in the chase as they are moments away from creating history.
