Essex vs Gloucestershire

Essex spinner Simon Harmer claimed eight Gloucestershire wickets in their second innings on Day 3. The visitors added 112 runs to their overnight score of 140-6, thus setting a target of 79 for the Essex batters.

In response, captain Tom Westley and opener Nick Browne overhauled their task with nine wickets in hand. Their latest win now places them at number 4 on the County Championship Division One points table.

Hampshire vs Warwickshire

The Warwickshire batters batted throughout the day, reaching 212-9 before stumps on Day 3. Michael Burgess top-scored in the innings with 58 while opener Alex Davies compiled a hard-fought 46 off 154 balls.

With just one wicket in hand, their lead over Hampshire now stands at a meagre 59 runs.

Kent vs Northamptonshire

Resuming Day 3 at 287-5, hosts Kent looked all set for a huge first innings lead. However, Northamptonshire bowlers Jack White and Ben Sanderson restricted Kent’s lead to just 32 runs as they both finished with four-fers.

Later, the visitors batted throughout the remaining 80 overs of the day. They wiped off the 32-run deficit and finished Day 3 with a lead of 252 runs. Ryan Rickelton scored an unbeaten 101 while New Zealand import James Neesham missed out on a well-deserved ton.

Lancashire vs Somerset

Lancashire opener Luke Wells scored 109 runs during his 186-run opening stand with Keaton Jennings. Meanwhile, Jennings himself batted on and on to reach a rare triple hundred.

The hosts batters made a mockery of Somerset’s bowling attack throughout the day, reaching a daunting 624-9 before stumps. Despite conceding 446 runs to Somerset upfront, the Dane Vilas-led side now holds a lead of 178 runs.
