Daniel Christian call it quits on his Nottinghamshire stint

The Aussie all-rounder Daniel Christian has decided to bid goodbye to the Nottinghamshire Outlaws team after featuring in his final game on July 1 against Durham.

The 39-year-old has represented the Notts team since the 2015 season and was chosen as a leader in the following edition.

Under Christian's captaincy, Outlaws have secured trophies in the 2017 and 2020 seasons. Particularly in the 2020 season, he was adjudged as player of the match in the semi-finals and finals.

In the 2021 season, the influential all-rounder could not feature in any of the games after being called up by the Australian team for their Tour to West Indies.

He returned to captain the team this season in his seventh season with the County. To date, Christian has scored 196 runs and scalped four wickets in 12 appearances of the ongoing edition.

In 86 T20 matches for Notts, he has garnered 1,715 runs and scalped 48 wickets. The Sydney-born cricketer is also one of the six cricketers in the world to have scored 5000 runs and taken 250 wickets in the T20s.

Christian reckoned that he has been motivated by winning the trophies rather than passing personal milestones.

"I've always been motivated more by winning trophies than by personal milestones, so the success we've had here over the years has been so rewarding," Christian said.

"It might sound clichéd, but the main thing I'll remember my time here for is the lifelong friendships I've made in the dressing room. It's those bonds that make the victories all the more special,"

The slower ball specialist added that Trent Bridge had been home to him and his family. He hopes to finish the tournament on high in his favourite place to play white-ball cricket.

"Trent Bridge has been a really loving and accommodating place over the years - both for me and, more recently, for my family as well. This place is well and truly home, and it will always be somewhere that I think of fondly,"

"For me, it's the best place to play white-ball cricket in the world, and the crowds have always been fantastic, so my focus now is on trying to contribute to a win here tomorrow night and finish the home season on a high," Christian concluded.

Notts are placed at seventh position in the points table with five wins and 11 points. In order to seal the quarter-final spots, they will have to win their remaining two games by a considerable margin.
