Reports | Pakistan Not Ready To Play World Cup Games At Ahmedabad

PCB chief Najam Sethi seems to have clarified his stance to the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding their preference of venues for the ODI World Cup in India later this year.
According to media reports, Sethi has clarified to ICC's chief executive Greg Barclay and CEO Geoff Allardice that the Pakistani team won't be playing at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Allardice and Barclay were in Karachi last week to seek assurance from PCB regarding their participation in the World Cup, which will take place in October-November later this year.
As per reports, PCB has demanded that their World Cup games should be held at three venues, which are Kolkata, Chennai, and Bengaluru.
"Sethi has conveyed to Barclay and Allardice that Pakistan doesn't want its matches to be scheduled in Ahmedabad unless it is a knock-out game like the final," the source said to PTI.
"He requested ICC to schedule their games in Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata if the national team gets clearance from the Pakistan government to travel to India for the global event scheduled in October and November," the source added.
The reports also claimed that Sethi also pleaded the ICC officials to persuade the BCCI into accepting their proposed hybrid model for the Asia Cup.
The Asia Cup has been in jeopardy ever since the BCCI demanded for it to be moved out of Pakistan due to security issues. In response, the PCB came up with a hybrid model, where the Indian matches would take place in the UAE, something that has been rejected by the BCCI.
