After a 3-0 whitewash in the T20I series, India A Women kicked off the three-match ODI series with a hard-fought 3-wicket win over Australia A Women at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane on Wednesday. Chasing 215, the visitors held their nerve to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series and they did it with eight overs to spare.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing, but in the end, the Women in Blue showed enough grit to get over the line. Let’s take a look at AUSW A vs INDW A 1st ODI highlights.

Anika Learoyd Stands Tall For Australia A

Batting first after winning the toss, Australia A Women got off to a wobbly start. Alyssa Healy and Tahlia Wilson were back in the hut inside the first six overs, leaving the middle order with plenty of work.

Rachel Trenaman steadied things with a fighting 51 but the real star was Anika Learoyd. Playing with composure and confidence, she scored classy 92 off 90 balls, peppering the rope with eight boundaries and a six.

India A’s bowlers, however, kept chipping away. Captain Radha Yadav was the pick of the lot with 3/45 while Minnu Mani (2/38) and Titas Sadhu (2/37) made sure the hosts never truly broke free. Australia A were bundled out for just 214 in the 48th over, a total that felt competitive but not unchaseable.

Yastika And Shafali Give India A The Perfect Launch

India’s reply began on a bright note as Yastika Bhatia and Shafali Verma got India A Women rolling. Shafali played her trademark aggressive game as she smashed 36 off just 31 balls while Yastika anchored from the other end with a calm 59 off 70 balls.

Their 77-run stand set the tone for the chase but once both departed, Australia A sniffed a way back. Dhara Gujjar chipped in with a steady 31 but a mini-collapse saw India A slip from 157/2 to 166/5.

With the game in the balance, Raghvi Bist’s cool-headed 25* proved vital. Extras, a whopping 32 of them, including 27 wides also played their part in pushing India over the line.

Radha’s All-round Impact Seals The Deal

Radha Yadav didn’t just shine with the ball; her 19 with the bat in the middle overs helped keep the scoreboard ticking. In the end, India A reached the target in 42 overs and sealed a crucial win.

AUSW A vs INDW A 2nd ODI
