In a significant development, Women have won the toss and elected to bat first against West Indies Women in the second semifinal of the ongoing T20 World Cup. While New Zealand have fielded an unchanged XI, West Indies have replaced Chedean Nation with the experienced Stafanie Taylor.
During the toss, New Zealand Women's skipper Sophie Devine stated that they would bat first, considering Sharjah's playing conditions.
"We are gonna have a bat first. The wicket looks good. A new strip for us. Hopefully, we will put a good score on the board and put them under pressure. We are fortunate with the schedule. We have got a few days break. But we are really excited for this clash. Same team. The game has grown so much. It's a new day for us and a new game. We will look to give our best today," Devine stated.
Hayley Matthews Highlights West Indies' Astounding Success
Meanwhile, West Indies Women's captain Hayley Matthews highlighted their success as a chasing side, expressing her happiness at bowling first in the all-important semifinal.
"Well we wanted to have a bowl first. We have been pretty successful chasing targets so pretty happy with the result of the toss. Yeah, it has been pretty crazy in the group stages but everyone has been really hungry to cross the two more steps. We have one change in our XI, Stafanie Taylor comes in place of Chedean Nation," She said.
