India and England are facing off in the first Test match of their five-match series at Headingley in Leeds. The match began on June 20, and Day 1 turned out to be a brilliant one for Team India, even though captain Shubman Gill lost the toss.
After being asked to bat first, India made a strong start and dominated the day, finishing at 359 runs for the loss of just three wickets in 85 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal impressed everyone by scoring a superb century, his first in England, while Shubman Gill, leading India in his debut Test as captain, remained not out on 127. At the close of play, Rishabh Pant was batting with him at the other end.
However, as we look ahead to Day 2, the weather forecast doesn’t bring much cheer. Rain is expected to interrupt the game, possibly even causing major delays or a full washout.
