India and England are set to clash at Edgbaston for the second Test of an exciting five-match series. After the toss, India’s captain Shubman Gill revealed a few changes in the Playing XI, notably leaving out IPL's 'Mr. Consistent' Sai Sudharsan.
England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl first. Speaking at the toss, Gill confirmed that India made three changes to their lineup ahead of the match confirming the exclusion of Sudharsan.
Why Is Sai Sudharsan Not Playing The 2nd Test Between India And England?
At the toss, Shubman Gill announced three changes which saw Nitish Reddy, Washington Sundar and Akash Deep come in as Jasprit Bumrah sat out. As for excluding Sudharsan, there might be two probable reasons. One primary reason was the injury that he suffered in the first Test.
Sai Sudharsan experienced shoulder discomfort on the final day of the Headingley Test. Reports suggest he might have sustained the injury while fielding during England's second innings.
Another reason for sitting Sai Sudharsan out might be speculative, which is the need for an all-rounder with spin attributes to fill in Edgbaston's pitch requirements. Notably, Sudharsan had a poor outing with the bat at Headingley as he managed to score only 30 runs across his two innings.
