Why Is Ishant Sharma Not Playing In GT vs RR IPL 2025 Match?

In a significant development, experienced fast bowler Ishant Sharma will miss the match between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on April 9, 2025. 

This notable change has been made to the Gujarat Titans' playing XI as Ishant Sharma has been dropped from the team. The veteran fast bowler has been replaced by Arshad Khan in a tactical move following his disappointing performance in GT's last match against SRH. 

Why Is Ishant Sharma Not Playing?

In the previous match, Ishant Sharma bowled four overs but failed to take any wicket and struggled with his economy rate, conceding 13.25 runs per over. His lack of impact on the game has led the Gujarat management to make the change, opting for Arshad Khan to provide a fresh option.

For GT there is another change, with Sherfane Rutherford replacing Washington Sundar in the lineup. 

On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals, led by Sanju Samson, won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Royals have made a few changes as well, with Fazalhaq Farooqi and Tushar Deshpande both included in the playing XI, while Wanindu Hasaranga and Yudhvir Singh Charak have been excluded.
