Why Is Dewald Brevis Not Playing In CSK vs MI IPL 2025 Match 38?

On Sunday, April 20, Mumbai Indians hosted Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2025 match 38 at the Wankhede Stadium. It is a crucial match for both teams as they are struggling in the ongoing edition.

Talking about CSK, the Men in Yellow are placed last on the table and have made changes to their playing XI for MI clash. Notably, 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre, who was roped in as Ruturaj Gaikwad's replacement, is making his debut, which has got the fans excited.

However, a section of fans are also unhappy with CSK management as Dewald Brevis, who has been roped in as Gurjanpreet Singh's replacement, was left out from the playing XI. This article will shed light on why Baby AB is not playing against MI. 

Why Is Dewald Brevis Not Playing against MI?

CSK have not made an official statement on Brevis' absence from the playing XI, but since the South Africa arrived just a couple of days ago, it is believed that he isn't quite settled to the conditions and the travel fatigue can be one of the reasons behind his absence.

Another reason behind his absence could be to give a longer rope to Jamie Overton. Notably, CSK have named four overseas stars - Rachin Ravindra, Jamie Overton, Matheesha Pathirana, and Noor Ahmad. Thus, only Overton looks replacable at the moment and since there is no spot for Brevis at the moment, the Proteas star failed to find a place in the playing XI.
