The stage is set for the most anticipated reverse fixture of IPL 2025 as Mumbai Indians take on Chennai Super Kings at the iconic Wankhede Stadium this Sunday. Dubbed as the ‘El Clasico’ of the IPL, this clash between two of the tournament’s most successful franchises promises to deliver fireworks once again. In a significant development, Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl first.

As for the team changes, MI has gone with the same playing XI. CSK also made a change to their lineup, with Ayush Mhatre making his T20 debut.

MI vs CSK: Tournament So Far

When the two sides last met on March 23 in Chennai, CSK dominated with a commanding win over MI. However, the momentum has shifted dramatically since that encounter. Chennai, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, have struggled for consistency, managing just one win in their last six games.

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians, have shown signs of resurgence. After a sluggish start to their season with only one win in five matches, MI have bounced back with two successive victories.

MI vs CSK IPL 2025: Captains' Thoughts

Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians Captain): "We will bowl first. Just looks like a very good track. Same wicket that we played against RCB. Exactly, that gives us some chance to identify the plans. Just about playing good cricket. Executing our plans and sticking to our strengths. That is exciting. The best is yet to come. We haven't played to our potential so far. It will be wonderful if it comes tonight or on any other day. Absolutely, the man behind me, everyone knows it is exciting when MI vs CSK are playing. We are going with the same team."

MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings Captain): "We were looking to bowl first. The main reason being dew which has set in a bit. We have to see if it's more or disappears with the wind. I think where we are placed at the moment, bottom of the points table, we can't look too far ahead. We need to play as a team, contribute as a team and take one game as a time.
