Hardik Pandya's Mumbai Indians have made a big change in their playing XI for the 55th game of IPL 2024 between SRH by replacing Gerald Coetzee with young Indian bowling all-rounder Anshul Kamboj.

The game is being played at the Wankhede stadium and the five-time champions have gone with only two foreigners in their starting XI after electing to bowl first. The move to remove big South African is a bold move as he has bowled decently this season with 13 wickets in 10 matches.

Why Anshul Kamboj in place of Gerald Coetzee?

However, he was smashed for 24 runs in two overs against KKR in the last game, and that might have prompted MI management to provide an opportunity to a promising youngster who has done well in domestic cricket

Also, Coetzee has leaked runs at an economy rate of 10.18 in the games he has played, and with MI almost out of the playoffs race, this is a good opportunity for them to try out a youngster.

Mumbai Indians have won just three matches out of the 11 played so far, and it seems that MI have decided to try out some fringe players with mega auction coming up next year.
