On Tuesday, July 22, Bangladesh locked horns against Pakistan in the 2nd T20I at the Sher-E Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. The hosts are leading the series 1-0 and will look to seal the series with a win in the second T20I. 

For the 2nd T20I, both teams observed a minute-long silence and also donned the black armbands as the 2nd T20I is dedicated to the victims of the air crash tragedy.

Why are Bangladesh and Pakistan Players Wearing Black Armbands in the 2nd T20I?

Notably, a tragedy hit Bangladesh on Monday, July 21, after an air force jet crashed into a school. A training jet lost control and crashed into the Milestone School and College in the suburb of Uttara, leaving over 20 dead, mostly children. Further, more than 170 people were injured in the tragic incident that hit the capital, Dhaka. 

The incident left everyone shocked, and the players across countries took to social media platforms to mourn the lost lives. Further, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) also took to Twitter to reveal that the 2nd T20I will be dedicated to the victims.

The BCB also revealed the plan of action for the second T20I, where they stated a few guidelines. Firstly, the national flag was at half-mast following the tragic plane crash. Also, the announcement of players wearing black armbands was also made before the start of play.

Further, no music or any sort of entertainment will be there at the Sher-E-Bangla Stadium to honour the victims. Also, a minute-long silence was observed before the first ball was bowled. Talking about the ongoing match, Pakistan won the toss and asked Bangladesh to bat first. The Tigers are 5/0 after 1.1 overs.
