The Champions Trophy 2025 is underway and after the loss of the hosts Pakistan in Karachi, the caravan now moves to Dubai. India are up against Bangladesh in the second game of the competition, and the Bangla Tigers have decided to bat first after winning the toss. So, keeping in mind the arsenal of both the teams and playing conditions, let's see who will win the game.
The Move To Omit Mahmudullah Can Backfire
Bangladesh have made some bold decisions and have not selected Mahmudullah in their playing XI. It could backfire in a high pressure game against a quality team like India as having Mahmudhullah would have provided them with stability and reliable option incase the top-order fails.
Also, they have not selected Nahid Rana, the bowler who has impresed one and all with his raw pace and ability to pick wickets against the odds. His addition would have helped Bangladesh attack India with a option that can make things happen even when the batters are set.
India Has Depth In Both Pace And Spin Department
Also, this is a fresh wicket as it is the first game of the competition. and Indian pacers can use the moisture on the pitch to get the better of a volatile batting order. Thus, the decision to bat first can go against Bangladesh and if they are expecting the pitch to turn more in the second innings, then they should have gone with atleast three spinners, which is not a case.
India, on the other hand, have all bases covered and have three pace options including Hardik Pandya while they have three spinners too if the pitch turns. There batters also have more proven credentials and ability to mould their game according to the situation.
Therefore, looking at the arsenal and conditions on offer, India are favourites to win their opening game of Champions Trophy.
