The Australian contingent is hoping to extend its Ashes dominance, batting in the day-night second Test against England at the Gabba in Brisbane.

With Brisbane currently in its own time zone compared to the rest of Australia and also the Test extending into the evening, the timing of the match may be uncertain to fans.

With it going beyond its usual ending time, 9:00 PM Australian Eastern Standard Time (A.E.S.T.), the stumps seem far as of now, with another 30 minutes added to the final timings.

What are the end timings for AUS vs ENG on Day 2 of the Pink-ball Test?

With both England and Australia playing an all-pace attack, the rate of overs being bowled has been below the usual. Only 76.2 overs were bowled on Day 1. Similarly, only 66 overs were bowled by 9 PM. To get the maximum overs bowled, closer to the regular 90-over quota, the play of the day has been moved to 10:00 PM A.E.S.T., i.e., 5:00 PM IST.

Australia stand firm against England in Ashes 2025-26

As the day ended exactly at 10:30 PM (A.E.S.T), Australia replied to England’s 334 with a commanding 378/6 at stumps, taking a 44-run first-innings lead. After opener's Jake Weatherald (72) and Marnus Labuschagne (65) dominated the initial hours, Aussie captain Steve Smith (61) struck a fluent half-centurie to dominate a ragged England attack.

England’s bowlers lacked rhythm and discipline, and the situation was worsened by five dropped catches, crucial misses that handed Australia momentum.

With four wickets in hand, the hosts, Australia head into Day 3 firmly in control, while the visiting team, England must regroup to avoid slipping further behind.
