The start of the final day of the second Test between India and England at Edgbaston has been delayed due to rain. India need seven wickets to win the game while England have an almost impossible task in front of them with 536 runs still needed to win.

Rain Likely To Play Big Part On Day 5

Thus, India would be hoping that they get the full 90 overs to bowl on the final day. However, time is ticking as the overs will start getting reduced from 4:30 PM IST (12 PM Local Time). Currently, the rain has stopped in Birmingham. However, it is almost certain that 90 overs in the day will not be possible as the umpires have just completed the inspection, and there is still work to be done before the game can start.

Also, there are chances of rain throughout the day, and if the weather forecast stays true, there could be multiple interruptions on this final day of the Test match. Thus, the hide and seek that rain is expected to play is bound to hurt India's chances of pushing for a win, and England might just eke out a draw, which could have been a bit difficult without rain playing its part.

India's Late Declaration Can Hurt Their Chances

India, on Day 4, delayed the declaration and pushed the target over 600, which allowed India to bowl just 16 overs in the final session. They did get three wickets, but had they declared a bit earlier, they could have had more time to push for a win, with the forecast not looking good on the final day.

Overall, India have dominated almost the whole Test match. They have outclassed England in all departments, and would be hoping that the conditions improve soon in Birmingham.
