We Failed as a Batting Unit: Aiden Markram 'Blasts' SRH Batters

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) thumped the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 7-wickets in match 29th of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Friday.

It was a dismal batting performance by the SRH batters, who failed to capitalise on a decent start and lost wickets at regular intervals. Barring Abhishek Sharma (34), no one quite got going and the visiting team faltered for a paltry 134 for 7.

In reply, CSK batted with great conviction and won the game rather comfortably in the end. Devon Conway scored yet another half-century as the MSD led side have won back-to-back games.

After the match, SRH skipper Aiden Markram spoke to the official broadcaster and looked disappointed with his batters and urged the team to step up in the upcoming matches.

"Yeah it's never nice to lose. We failed as a batting ground as we failed to put up a partnership. Certainly, it was not a 130 wicket it was an above 160 total. As I said we failed to put up the partnership and lost momentum. We knew their spinners will play a huge role, it was more about everyone executing the plans. Yeah, the guys have their plans but we weren't able to execute them tonight.

It's about the boys, they need to take on the bowlers in the powerplay. We need to get some wins under the belt now. We will have to look at how to come together as a batting group. Really proud of how the bowlers stuck and took this game deep. Few guys need to put up their hands, hopefully, we can get it right in the next game."

Despite boasting a power-packed batting order on paper, SRH have failed to deliver the goods on the field, and as a result are tottering at the second last position, with just two wins to show.
