India and Australia are currently engaged in an intense battle in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The match is being played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in MCG, Australia.

Australia won the toss and opted to bat first in the game. They made one change to their side from the last game. Sam Konstas, the 19-year-old batter from New South Wales earned his Baggy Green as he replaced Nathan McSweeney in the side. 

Build Up To Debut Of Sam Konstas

The young right-handed batter has given a testament of his talent in the domestic circuit. Konstas has an average of over 42 in his first class career. Besides this, he has also shown great character and guts in the first class matches if the reports from the Australian media is to be believed. 

In the build up to his Test debut Sam Konstas scored a century against India while playing for Australia's PM XI. Other than this, he also scored a half-century in one of the two matches that he played in the ongoing edition of the BBL 2024-25.

Virat Kohli Smiles Cheekily At Sam Konstas

During his time in the middle, Konstas displayed the braveness and guts while facing Jasprit Bumrah in just the third over of the match. It was the fifth delivery of the over, when the Australian opener tried to bring out his innovative side into the game.


Bumrah was bowling perfect line and lengths and was not allowing the batter to get away. This could have prompted, Konstas to bring out something out of the box to get off the blocks. Bumrah bowled a back of a length delivery around the off stump line. Konstas lined himself up and tried to play a reverse scoop. 

The attempt by the young batter not only brought a smile on the face of his opening partner, Usman Khawaja but also forced a smile from Jasprit Bumrah. Not only this, soon Virat Kohli was seen reacting to the bold attempt from Konstas. He was seen giving a cheeky smile at Konstas in between the overs.
