Legendary batter Virat Kohli rescued India from a precarious situation in their ongoing World Cup match against Australia in Chennai. Chasing a paltry total of 200 runs, India were down on the mat at one stage, reeling on two for three in two overs. However, as he has always done for his side, Kohli played a memorable innings to consolidate the Indian innings. In this process, the stylish batter completed his 67th ODI fifty, earning accolades from all corners of the world. 

Chasing 200, India had a disastrous start to their innings, losing the prized wickets of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer inside two overs. 

However, the experienced duo of Kohli and KL Rahul steadied the ship for India, stitching a crucial stand for the fourth wicket. After getting a lifeline, Kohli gradually stamped his authority through scintillating stroke play. In this process, he went past Sachin Tendulkar to become the highest-scorer for India in ICC white-ball tournaments. 

As of writing, the hosts are in a commanding position in the game, placed at 120 for three in 29.3 overs, with Kohli and Rahul batting on 60* and 54*, respectively.
