Shubman Gill - (Source:ScreenGrab)
The 2nd Test between India and Australia is underway at the Adelaide Oval. It is India's first pink ball Test since the infamous 36- all out at the same venue in the 2020/21 tour.
The visitors got off to the worst possible start as Yashasvi Jaiswal lost his wicket on the first ball of the 2nd Test. Starc was breathing fire as he became the joint-most successful bowler to take a wicket off the first ball of a Test match (3 Times).
Nonetheless, Shubman Gill, who is playing his first Test of the ongoing five-match series, was unfazed by the wicket and whacked Starc for boundaries.
Gill Whacks Starc For Glorious Shots
Gill, who missed the first Test because of a thumb injury, showed respect to Starc on the first two deliveries but then, opened his account with a four. The first runs of the tour came in a scratchy manner as it went passed the gully fielder for a boundary.
However, Gill showed his class as he played a glorious shot past mid-off for a four to hit back-to-back boundaries. Watch Gill's class here.
Gill Shines In Pink Ball Warm-up Match
Gill's last knock against Australia in Australia was the famous 91 runs innings at the Gabba that led to the series win. Further, Gill's match readiness was in question, but he silenced the critics during India's recent warm-up match against AUS PM XI.
Notably, Gill was India's leading run-getter in that match and scored an unbeaten 50, following which he retired to give opportunity to other batters. At the time of writing this article, India are 30/1 after 10 overs and Gill is batting on 19 (29), which features four boundaries.
