The Kent Spitfires are taking on the Durham Cricket Club in the England One Day Cup 2024. This match is taking place at the St Lawrence Stadium in Canterbury. The away team won the toss in this game and opted to bat first. 

This game is important for both Durham and Kent in order to bring their campaign back on track. Both the teams have won three of their six matches and are currently positioned in the lower half of the points table in the Group A of the competition. 

The Durham team would have hoped for a good start from their openers laying down the foundation for a big score. Michael Jones and Ben McKinney walked out to start the innings for the Durham Cricket Club. 


Swanepoel gets the better of Jones with a beautiful delivery

Michael Jones tried to show intent from the beginning of his innings and played a couple of positives shots to get his innings going. However, Beyers Swanepoel soon accounted for Jones with a stunning delivery.

On the fifth delivery of the fourth over, Swanepoel bowled a fullish delivery around the off stump. Jones looked to drive the ball on the off side, however, in this attempt he left a gap between his bat and pad. The ball swung in viciously and snuck in through the gap and crashed into the stumps bringing and end to Jones's stay in the middle. 

At the time of writing Durham are stationed at 69/1 in 14.4 overs.
