We don’t often see Sunil Narine showing his emotions on the field. However, on Tuesday, during KKR’s IPL 2024 clash against RR, he could not resist himself after picking up the dangerous wicket of Rovman Powell.

Nonetheless, it did not help his side, as RR rode on Jon Buttler’s spectacular unbeaten century to see off a 224-run target with just two wickets in hand.

Coming to bowl the 17th over of KKR’s innings, Narine was smashed for four and two sixes by Powell in a battle of the Caribbean. Then the veteran, who struck a swashbuckling century earlier, his first of the competition, got revenge.

It was a quick 99 kph delivery by Narine which Powell did not anticipate. The hard-hitter was trapped plumb in front, and Narine, right after LBW appeal, celebrated wildly as soon as the umpire raised his finger.

In the end, RR chased off the target on the very last ball, with Buttler playing like a superhero to pull off an unthinkable target single-handedly.

With the victory, RR strengthened their place at the top of the points table, while KKR remained second despite the heartbreaking defeat.
