Hendricks attempted to defend but was beaten on the inside edge, allowing the ball to sneak through the gap between his pad and bat, ultimately crashing into the middle stump. Shoriful cleanly bowled the dangerous de Kock, giving Bangladesh an early breakthrough. Rassie van der Dussen stepped in to fill the void.
