Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan roared back into form by listing a crucial knock against Pakistan in their blockbuster World Cup 2023 showdown in Kolkata. Turning up for his side in a virtual dead-rubber, the skipper started cautiously in his innings before unleashing a barrage of boundaries against Pakistan spinner Iftikhar Ahmed.

Shakib Al Hasan goes 4,4,4 against Iftikhar

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan, turning up against Pakistan in a World Cup 2023 game, won the toss and opted to bat first. His top-order, however, failed to complement his decision as they slumped to 102-4 inside the first 21 overs of the innings.

Litton Das’ dismissal at the hands of Iftikhar Ahmed made way for Shakib to join forces with Mahmudullah at the crease, as the duo attempted to lead their side’s recovery against a raging Pakistan attack.

By the end of 36 overs, Shakib took Bangladesh to 158-6 by scoring a cautious 26 from 53 balls, posing a strike-rate of less than 50 at this stage. However, the dynamic all-rounder decided to break-free against Iftikhar in the 37th over of the innings, smoking the Pakistani spinner for three successive boundaries in a row.
