Riding on a disciplined bowling effort, Bangladesh prevented Afghanistan from getting off to a flying start in the ongoing T20 World Cup Super Eight face-off between the two sides. However, when ex-skipper Shakib Al Hasan created a chance with his wily spin bowling, Towhid Hridoy dropped the catch to give Ibrahim Zadran a lifeline.

The incident occurred during the fifth over of Afghanistan's innings when Gurbaz and Ibrahim were trying to break the shackles following a few quiet overs. After bowling two dot balls, Shakib dropped it short as Zadran hammered it powerfully on the off side.

However, the ball was in the air and went straight to Towhid Hridoy, fielding at short cover. But unfortunately, the youngster dropped the catch, with Zadran surviving in a crucial juncture of the game.

Meanwhile, the Afghan openers have been rock-solid in the middle, steadily powering their side to a respectable score on St Vincent's tricky surface. They have formed a 50+ partnership, becoming the first-ever opening pair to do so on four occasions in T20 World Cups.

As of writing, Afghanistan were powering themselves to a defendable total, placed at 54 for none in nine overs.
