Ravindra Jadeja was given out for obstructing the field on Monday during Match 61 of IPL 2024 between CSK and RR, taking place at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. 

The controversial incident happened during the 16th over of CSK's innings when Avesh Khan bowled a short delivery outside the off stump, which Jadeja played through the third man and tried to take a couple of runs.

However, CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was not interested at all for that when Jadeja was halfway down the pitch. The throw came at the striker's end, and Sanju Samson saw the opportunity to run Jadeja out.

But then Jadeja deliberately came when Samson's throw was going to break the stumps at the non-strikers' end. The star all-rounder changed his direction while watching the throw, leaving Sanju Samson furious.

The RR skipper went for an appeal for obstructing the field, and the replay confirmed that he was right. In the process, Jadeja became the third player in the history of the IPL, after Amit Mishra and Yusuf Pathan to be dismissed in that manner.

MS Dhoni's wife Sakshi was in the stands to watch the match, and the way Jadeja was dismissed left her in utter disbelief.

Eventually, CSK won the game by five wickets, with Sameer Rizvi finishing things off with back-to-back fours.
