Ruturaj Gaikwad started off IPL 2024 in a timid fashion compared to his standards but as he has settled into his new role of CSK captain, the batting form has returned and is notching up runs for fun now. He scored century in CSK's last game against LSG and now against SRH, he has once again delivered for his side with a classy fifty.

The CSK skipper started cautiously against Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the first over and got his first boundary of the match with a strong pull shot in the second over. He then showed his class in the fourth over by smashing back-to-back fours against Shahbaz Ahmed and repeated the feat in the next over as well against the experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

T Natarajan was also punished in the final over of the Powerplay and though Rahane departed, Gaikwad continued to flow in his merry ways with some glorious shots. He eventually got to his fifty in the 9th over when he slapped Pat Cummins over deep mid-wicket for a maximum.

The stylish opener would be hoping to convert this fifty into another hundred and with truckloads of batting to follow, CSK are looking well-set for another big total.
