Indian spin wizard Ravichandran Ashwin showcased his cricketing genius, removing England's top run-scorer of the series, Ollie Pope, for a brisk 23 on Day 4 of the ongoing second Test in Vizag. The dismissal came at a crucial juncture, with England navigating a tricky phase in their chase in the first hour of the penultimate day.

IND vs ENG: Rohit's sharp catch dismisses Pope

Pope, who had adopted a cautious stance in the first innings, switched gears to a more assertive approach in the second, aiming to consolidate England's position. His strategy appeared fruitful until Ashwin's brilliance with the ball came to the fore.

The breakthrough occurred on the second delivery of the 29th over when Ravichandran Ashwin delivered a meticulously angled ball that Pope attempted to cut. Unfortunately for Pope, the ball took a sharp edge, flying towards the slip cordon.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma, stationed at slip, demonstrated remarkable reflexes to secure a spectacular catch, sending Pope back to the pavilion after scoring 23 runs off 21 deliveries, a knock that included five boundaries. Pope's wicket was a significant blow for England, considering his reputation for accelerating the scoreboard with substantial innings.

At the time of writing this article, England's scoreboard read 156/4 after 32 overs, with Zak Crawley and Jonny Bairstow at the helm. Crawley has been particularly impressive, adopting an aggressive stance from the outset of Day 4, cruising to a swift half-century.

The match scenario is delicately balanced, with England inching closer to their target, requiring another 258 runs for victory, while India will focus on dismantling the remaining batting lineup to square the series 1-1.
