In white-ball cricket, Rohit Sharma is a tactical genius, however, in the second ODI between India and England, his captaincy instincts were missing as the India captain, alongside keeper, KL Rahul made a DRS blunder and gave a lifeline to England batter, Joe Root. Root, one of England's best player survived and had Rohit taken a review, things would have drastically changed.

England once again batted first and just like the first ODI, had a great start as Phil Salt and Ben Duckett took the attack to the Indian bowlers and looked threatening. Duckett, in particular was at his imperial best as he smacked a quick-fire 65 off 56 and laid a foundation for the England batters.

However, with two wickets down, England needed to resurrect the innings and Joe Root was out there in the middle as India desperately needed his wicket. The Men in Blue got their chance in the 25th over, but captain Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul allowed the chance to slip.

Axar Patel bowled it full on the middle and off as Root goes for a slog sweep and gets beaten as the ball thumps him on the pad. The Indian side appealed, but the umpire turned down the chance. Rohit wanted to take the review, but KL Rahul looked disinterested. Eventually, when the replays played out, it was shown that the ball was clipping the stumps and Rohit, who had the chance to take the review was left frustrated.

The slip up allowed Root to get his confidence back as alongside Brook, he stitched a crucial partnership before Brook departed for 31.
