Rohit Sharma could not damage much with the bat on Friday (May 3) after coming as an impact substitute for Mumbai Indians in Match 51 of IPL 2024 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium.

After Hardik Pandya did not use him as a fielder earlier, Rohit came to open the innings while chasing a below-par target of 170. However, all he could accumulate were 11 off 12 balls before Sunil Narine sent him back to the hut during the sixth over of MI's innings.

It was a back-of-a-length delivery by Narine, which Rohit, after going on the back foot, went for a pull. However, all he could get was a huge top-edge, and Manish Pandey, who was placed mid-wicket, ran backwards to complete an excellent catch.

While walking back to the crease, Rohit looked at his bat just like an amateur cricketer.

At the time of writing this, Mumbai are struggling, smashing 82/6 after 12 overs, with Suryakumar Yadav holding the key, batting on 31* off 22 balls.
