Rinku Singh retained his dominating streak in the end-overs phase during India's quarterfinal clash against Nepal at the Asian Games T20I in Hangzhou, China on Tuesday (October 3). The swashbuckling left-hander built on the gains from his debut international series in Ireland by pulverizing the hapless Nepalese attack for his scintillating 37 not out off 15 deliveries.

Walking in at No.6, the explosive UP batter unleashed his wrath on the opposition line-up, completely destroying their plans and field settings in the final three overs of the Indian innings. He belted the Nepalese death-overs options for two fours and four sixes, two of which came in the decisive 20th over delivered by Abhinash Bohara.

In the most brutal end-overs assault, Rinku hammered Bohara for two fours and two sixes in the final over to take India to a daunting and ultimately match-winning score of 202/4 in 20 overs.

Despite Yashavi Jaiswal's memorable century, India could've finished below the 180-run mark on a flat pitch with small boundary dimensions if not for Rinku's rearguard knock.

Rinku initially got going with a six each in the 18th and the 19th over of the Indian innings before hitting the top gear completely during the 20th over. Of the four maximums he hit, two truly stood out and reinforced what a special talent the young man is.

Rinku's spectacular knock made all the difference in the end as Nepal's inexperienced batting unit managed to put the Indian bowlers under great pressure and fell short of the mark by only 23 runs.

He is rapidly becoming a great option for the senior Indian T20I side as the think-tank continues to build towards the 2024 T20 World Cup in the Caribbean & USA, where on dry pitches, the ability to tonk the ball over the park in the death overs could make a huge difference to the end outcome for sides.
