Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) legend Virat Kohli might well have teased bringing back his medium pacers ahead of team’s away Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) clash against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise.

On Sunday afternoon, the legendary batter was spotted practicing his bowling during a pre-game training session alongside the rest of his RCB teammates.

Interestingly, the last time Kohli plied his bowling trade for the RCB franchise was back during the 2016 edition of the tournament. The legendary right-handed batter bowled just one over that season, which also marked his magnum opus year with the bat in IPL.

Virat Kohli hints at return to bowling

Virat Kohli, currently holding the coveted ‘Orange Cap’ for his 361-run tally so far this IPL 2024 season, recently hinted out making his return to bowling for the RCB franchise.

The 2016 edition of the tournament marked Kohli’s last adventure with the ball in IPL, however, he did try his arm for a few overs during India’s runners-up campaign at the 2023 World Cup last November.

Just moments before the first over was bowled, Kohli teased the umpire by handing his Orange Cap, hinting he would bowl the first over of the innings. However, Mohammed Siraj ended the fun for RCB fans as he began the proceeding for the team with the ball.

Virat Kohli recently punched out a sizzling 20-ball 42 against SRH, albeit in a losing cause for RCB. Despite his best efforts at the top, coupled with Dinesh Karthik’s dynamic 35-ball 83 later in the game, the RCB troops fell 25 runs short of their target.

Earlier in the tournament, Kohli bashed scores of 77 and 83* against Punjab Kings and KKR respectively, and listed an imperial 113* against the Rajasthan Royals on April 6.

So far, the 35-year-old has listed 361 runs from just seven innings at a splendid average of 72 in IPL 2024.

Leading Travis Head by 37 runs, Kohli continues to find himself at the top of the run-scoring ladder this season.
