The TNPL 2023 clash between Ba11sy Trichy and Dindigul Dragons witnessed much drama, as two reviews were taken off the same ball. The incident occurred during the 13th over of the Trichy innings, with R Rajkumar attempting an inside-out shot against Dragons’ spinner and Team India veteran Ravichandran Ashwin.

Ravi Ashwin reviews a review, only to lose a review

Earlier in the game, Ba11sy Trichy captain Ganga Sridhar Raju won the toss and opted to bat first. While he consolidated the innings at the top, the rest of the top-order failed to respond as they succumbed to 49-6 inside 11 overs.

Thereafter, Raju formed a 65-run partnership with R Rajkumar, a stand with amounted to over half of the team’s 120-run total.

However, when Trichy reached 69-6 from 12.5 overs, Dindigul Dragons captain and ace spinner Ravi Ashwin seemingly dismissed Rajkumar by caught-behind. On-field umpire responded to Ashwin’s call, only for Rajkumar to immediately call for a review.

Television replays suggested the ball may have missed the bat, thus forcing the umpire to change his decision. The verdict did not seem to have sit well with the Dragons skipper, as he decided to use up his own review off the same delivery.

Unfortunately for Ashwin, his review of a review did not make any difference as Rajkumar’s stay at the crease lasted for four more overs.

The legendary spinner ultimately had the last laugh, as his side dusted out the Ba11sy Trichy for a paltry total of 120. The spin legend himself finished with two wickets off his four overs, including that of his opposite number Sridhar Raju.
