Rajat Patidar packed a delightful punch towards the point region off Lizaad Williams to bring up his first boundary on ODI debut against South Africa. The 30-year-old was tasked to open the Indian innings in the third ODI of their three-match series alongside young Sai Sudharsan at the other end.
After surviving his first few deliveries of the match, Patidar notched up his first set of international runs in the second over, before he was eventually dismissed by South African new-ball pacer Nandre Burger later inside the opening powerplay.

India’s ODI debutant Rajat Patidar belted Lizaad Williams for twin boundaries in the latter’s opening over, and also smacked Nandre Burger for a huge six over midwicket a while later in the innings.
Patidar’s first boundary off Williams was a delightful punch through the point region to subdue the latter’s opening spell.

Rajat Patidar ended up scoring 22 runs off 16 balls in his maiden ODI innings before he was cleaned up by Proteas speedster Nandre Burger.
Patidar made his List A debut back for Madhya Pradesh during the 2015 Vijay Hazare Trophy season. Overall, the cricketer made his 57 List A appearances across all levels before receiving his maiden ODI cap on India’s tough all-format 2023 tour of South Africa.
The right-handed batsman was recently retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise for the forthcoming IPL 2024 season. He was retained alongside the likes of franchise veterans Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell among others.
