Rajat Patidar, one of the finest upcoming talents in Indian cricket finally made his international debut in the third ODI between South Africa and India at Paarl. The man started in great fashion and slammed some beautiful boundaries, making his intentions clear.
However, just when it seemed that he will make this debut a memorable one, an inswinger from Nandre Burger brought his downfall. He departed from 22 off 16 balls with three fours and a six in it, and the promising innings was abruptly cut short.
Talking about the ball, it was the fourth delivery of the fifth over and Patidar was looking to attack Burger. That over had already fetched him a four and a six but the debutant wanted more. Burger bowled the fourth delivery full and swinging into middle and leg. Patidar went for a big expansive shot but ended up missing it completely and his leg stump was sent for a ride.
It was a big breakthrough for South Africa and they really needed it to put India under pressure. Sai Sudharsan also soon departed after that and India were reduced to 49-2 with Sanju Samson and Sai Sudharsan at the crease.
