Babar Azam made headlines on Saturday ahead of the third and final ODI between Pakistan and Afghanistan, taking place at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. However, contrary to his illustrious accomplishments, the 28-year-old gained notoriety this time around as a result of a schoolboy error.

After winning the toss, Babar was asked what the team's news would be for the day. In response to the question, when he revealed the four changes, Babar accidentally said, "Saud Shakeel is making his debut today.”

The social media trolls got the subject there. In July 2021, Shakeel played his first ODI match against England at Cardiff, and Babar himself gave him the cap before the match.

Thus far, Shakeel has played five ODIs, and scored 67 runs at an average of 22.33. The 27-year-old’s Test record has been staggering, averaging 87.50 for his tally of 875 runs after seven red-ball outings.

Meanwhile, at the time of writing, Pakistan reached 54/2 in 13.3 overs after opting to bat. Babar and Mohammad Rizwan are at the crease, while both openers have returned to the pavilion.
