The UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants are playing against each other in the ongoing fourth match of the WPL 2025 at Kotambi Stadium. Earlier in the match, GG captain Ashleigh Gardner won the toss and opted to bowl first. This decision paid off immediately as UP-W openers Kiran Prabhu Navgire and Dinesh Vrinda just managed 22-run partnership.
Priya Mishra's Aggressive Celebration
After the early setback, Uma Chetry and Deepti Sharma played a much-needed partnership for UP Warriorz. But as things looked to be settled, Deandra Dottin broke that much-needed partnership.
The moment unfolded in the 10th over of the first innings when Deandra Dottin delivered a short ball outside off. Chetry, who was in fine form with 24 runs off 27 balls, attempted a pull shot but mistimed it. The ball traveled straight to Priya Mishra at mid-on, who took a stunning low catch to end the crucial 51-run partnership between Chetry and captain Deepti Sharma.
However, what grabbed everyone's attention was Priya Mishra’s aggressive celebration. After completing the catch, she pointed her finger at Chetry, exuding raw aggression. Watch the video here:
Before her dismissal, Chetry had played some elegant strokes, anchoring UP Warriorz’s innings following the early departure of the openers. But just as her partnership with Deepti Sharma seemed to steady the innings, Dottin's fiery spell turned the tide for Gujarat Giants.
UP Warriorz Fails To Build Momentum
After Uma Chetry's departure, the UPW middle order crumbled, proving to be as fragile as a house of cards. Tahlia McGrath fell victim to the relentless pressure, departing without scoring a single run, while Grace Harris and Shweta Sehrawat both faltered under pressure.
The GG bowlers, with excellent bowling, executed their strategy flawlessly, in no time dismantled UP's batting lineup. At the time of writing this article, UPW are at 117 runs at the loss of 8 wickets already.
