Ireland fast bowler Curtis Campher let out an overtly loud roar, twice in the space of just few deliveries, against Zimbabwe in the second ODI of the series at the Harare Sports Club. The speedster picked up three wickets in the match during his fiery five-over spell as Ireland folded up Zimbabwe for just 245 in 49 overs.
Tasked to bowl the 30th over of the Zimbabwean innings by captain Paul Stirling, Campher trapped half-centurion and well-set batter Wessly Madhevere earlier in his spell, before getting rid of Johnathan Campbell and Tadiwanashe Marumani in quick succession to claim astonishing figures of 3-13.
Curtis Campher celebrates with a roar
Mere moments after Zimbabwe crossed the 150-run mark with half-centurions Wessly Madhevere and Sikandar Raza batting at the crease, Ireland fast bowler Curtis Campher managed to trap the former in front of stumps with a full and straight delivery.
As it turned out, Campher celebrated the occasion by letting out a huge roar, yelling “Come On”, after his LBW appeal was upheld by the umpire. The following over, the Irish speedster celebrated in a similar manner after he picked up the third wicket of his brief spell in the form of Tadiwanashe Marumani for a duck.
Curtis Campher’s three-fer, coupled with a clean-up job from Mark Adair (4-54) folded up Zimbabwe for just 245 in 49 overs.
For Zimbabwe, Wessly Madhevere top-scored in the innings by crafting 61 runs from 70 balls. Sikandar Raza punched out 58 off 75, while Wellington Masakadza chipped in with a run-a-ball 35 while batting with the tail.
Ireland ended up winning the match with more than two overs to spare to bring the three-match ODI series to levelling terms. Captain Paul Stirling led his team from the front with a scintillating 89 from 102 balls, while number three Curtis Campher complemented his three-wicket haul with a sublime 63.
