The battle between India and Australia is heating up at the MCG and it is evident from how the players are reacting to the situations on the field. After Australia dominated the first two days of the match, India made a brilliant comeback on day three courstesy of a gutsy and fighting maiden Test ton by Nitish Kumar Reddy.
The Indian all-rounder remained unbeaten at the end of day 3 along with the last batter of the Indian Mohammad Siraj. The duo restarted the proceedings of the fourth day at 358/9. The last patrnership of India showed great resilience and tried to fight as hard as possible.
The resilience of the two players furstrated the Australian players and it was evident from the way Pat Cummins was conducting himself on the field. During the 119th over, Cummins was engaged in a heated exchange of words with umpires.
Pat Cummins Tried To Review The Decision By The Third Umpire
On the last delivery of the over, the Australian skipper bowled an over pitched delivery at the off stump line. Siraj tried to push the ball to the off side but got an outside edge to be taken by the slip fielder. The Australian fielders looked confident and they started celebrating the last wicket of India. However, the umpire had a doubt and refered it to the third umpire. The replays showed that the ball hit the ground after it hit the bat and declared it as not out.
The decision did not sit well with the Australian skipper and he was seen talking with the umpire. Notably, Pat Cummins wanted to review the decision by the third umpire. There seemed to be a a long discussion about whether that could be allowed or not. However, the umpires informed the Australian team that the review will show the same thing and it will be the same decision and did not allow the review by the Australian team.
