This evening, Babar Azam-led Pakistan were all set to clash against New Zealand in the first T20I of the five-match series at home. However, in an unfortunate development, an incessant downpour has delayed the proceedings, frustrating fans and experts alike.

To the misfortune of fans, it rained in the late afternoon, causing a significant delay in the toss. After inspecting the playing conditions, the umpires finally called the two captains for the all-important toss at 7.30 PM local time, when the match was scheduled to begin.

After the BlackCaps opted to bat on Rawalpindi's flat surface, it started drizzling once again before the players could enter the field for live action. As a result, another rain interruption marred the highly-anticipated clash, with the groundsmen covering the stadium.

Rawalpindi Stadium Weather Update

As per weather.com, the precipitation chances lie between 20 to 30 per cent at the Rawalpindi Stadium in Pakistan for tonight.

Although the temperature is expected to vary between 17 to 24 degrees Celsius, the persistent downpour will likely prevent the fans from witnessing the high-octane face-off between the two sides.

Furthermore, as per the latest visuals, it's raining cats and dogs at the venue. So, in all likelihood, the first T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand will conclude without any result.
