Punjab Kings' stand-in captain Sam Curran set a commendable example of sportsmanship as he checked on MI's veteran batter Rohit Sharma after one of his deliveries hit the veteran on his helmet during the ongoing IPL 2024 encounter between the two teams in Mullanpur. 

The incident occurred during the 12th over of MI's innings when Rohit had already formed a scintillating stand alongside Suryakumar Yadav to bring the visitors' innings back on track after Ishan Kishan's early dismissal. 

To break the partnership between Rohit and Surya, Curran brought himself back into the attack. 

He started the over on a positive note, conceding only three runs off his first two deliveries before his lethal delivery took Rohit by surprise. 

It was almost a yorker from Curran, as Rohit went for an audacious paddle sweep shot. However, he failed to execute the shot, with the ball hitting him on his helmet. The blow seemed serious in real time, as Rohit was visibly stunned for a fraction of second. 

Meanwhile, Curran immediately went towards the experienced batter and checked on him, earning massive applause for his heart-warming gesture. 

Interestingly, the English all-rounder dismissed Rohit on his next delivery, as Harpreet Brar took a stunning catch inside the circle. 

As of writing, the visitors were 111 for two in 13.2 overs, with Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma unbeaten in the middle.
