The Trinbago Knight Riders are the most successful team in CPL history, with four titles to their name. They are playing the first match of the 2024 season against the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots at Warner Park in St. Kitts.

The skipper of the Patriots, Andre Fletcher, won the toss ahead of the game and opted to field first. Jason Roy opened the innings for the Knights along with one of the most successful batters in the role for the franchise, Sunil Narine.

The Patriots made a good start with the ball and kept the two explosive openers quiet for the first two overs. However, soon, Sunil Narine started to find his rhythm with the bat. On the fourth delivery of the third over, Narine got a lucky boundary off the top edge, which got him going. He followed it up with a gorgeous maximum.

Narine took the toll on Mayer

Mayers bowled a fullish delivery on the off stump. Narine moved towards the line of the ball and destroyed it away over the long-off fence for a maximum. It was a shot for the ages from the southpaw, and after that, he really found his mojo, adding momentum to the Knight's innings.

However, Narine's storm did not last long as R John got the better of him after being hit for three sixes. But the experienced Knight had done his job before returning to the hut. He had scored 38 runs off 19 deliveries by then and had given the team the much-needed launching pad at the beginning.

Narine, the opener

Sunil Narine revived his role as an opener for the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024 after about 5-6 years. He had immense success in this role during the tournament. It was clear that he was given a particular role, and he played it to perfection with his aggressive style of batting.
