The news of three Afghanistan cricketers, Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, getting sanctioned by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) for their preference to play T20 leagues over International cricket spread like wildfire.
The media release by the ACB stated that these three had declined the central contract offered by the board and instead wanted to focus on various leagues across the globe. The result was that the ACB recommendation committee had decided they should not be offered the contract for another year alongside a ban on playing overseas leagues for two years.
However, a couple of days after the incident, Naveen, who is also a part of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), put out a cryptic story on Instagram referring to the matter.
"It's a normal and common thing truth comes out late and lies spread around like fire."
Naveen has mentioned in his story that lies spread like fire as the truth always comes out late, indicating that there are bigger things behind this controversy than we all know. His message was posted with an Afghanistan flag and a heart emoji, which depicted his love for the nation.
Nevertheless, only time will tell if something serious is behind this or if it is just a random message that doesn't mean much.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan will be playing a three-match T20I series against India in January, and it will be interesting to see if these three are selected.
