In a match, which had a spot in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24 Challenger, Adelaide Strikers prevailed over Perth Scorchers in the Knockout in Perth Stadium. 

The low-scoring encounter saw the Strikers put up 155 runs on the board. In reply, the Scorchers managed just 105 and lost the contest by 50 runs, as Llyod Pope and Cameron Boyce rattled their batting line-up. 

Strikers' skipper Matthew Short, who failed with the bat, managed to pick the wicket of Nick Hobson, which witnessed one of the fielding highlights of the day. 

Short claimed an extraordinary catch off his own bowling, where Hobson, trying to play on the leg-side, managed to edge the ball back towards the bowler's end, where a diving Strikers captain clinched a stunner to dismiss the batter for 4.

Short is the leading run-getter not only for Adelaide but also in the competition, where in 10 matches, the opener has amassed 522 runs with six fifties. Apart from batting and excelling in leadership qualities, the Australian international has also struck at crucial junctures.

Adelaide Strikers will face off against Brisbane Heat on Monday (January 22) in Challenger in Queensland, where the winner will qualify for the BBL 13 Final and clash horns with Sydney Sixers on January 24 in Sydney Cricket Ground.
