In a remarkable fielding display during the ongoing World Cup match between Australia and Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) stadium in Pune, Australia's Marnus Labuschagne executed a sensational run-out to dismiss Bangladesh's Mahmudullah.

Batting ahead of Mushfiqur Rahim in this game, Mahmudullah proved his worth once again with the bat and was looking good after smashing a four and three sixes. After earning a batting promotion, Mahmudullah was looking set for big score. Positioned to take full advantage of the batting promotion, his plans were thwarted by Marnus's brilliance.

During the 36th over of the first innings, Towhid Hridoy nudged a 135 kmph length delivery to cover and attempted a quick single. Mahmudullah responded, but the single carried inherent risks. Marnus, stationed inside the circle, sprinted towards the ball, deftly picked it up with one hand, and executed a direct hit with an underarm throw at the batting end. Despite Mahmudullah's desperate dive, he fell short of the crease. This swift run-out by Marnus in the 36th over cornered Bangladesh at 214/4.

Notably, it marked Labuschagne’s third run-out in the ongoing tournament, contributing to his total of five for Australia throughout his career.

In an earlier instance in the game, Bangladesh's stand-in captain Najmul Hossain Shanto fell short of his crease, courtesy of a brilliant piece of fielding from Labuschagne, concluding his innings at 45.

After opting to bat first, Bangladesh achieved a commendable start, with the openers amassing 76 runs for the initial wicket. This provided a solid foundation for subsequent batters to capitalize on. However, Bangladesh eventually eventually ended with 306-8 on the board.
