The inaugural match of Major League Cricket, the T20 League featured a clash between the Texas Super Kings and the Los Angeles Knight Riders. The Super Kings, the sister franchise of Chennai Super Kings emerged victorious, defeating the Los Angeles Knight Riders by 69 runs. The Texas-based franchise was sent in to bat first by the Knight Riders after winning the toss. 

The Texas Super Kings' innings got off to a dismal start as their captain and opening batter, Faf du Plessis, was dismissed for a duck on the first ball of the second over delivered by Lockie Ferguson. 

The New Zealand pacer pitched a full delivery just outside the off stump. Faf du Plessis was lured into playing the shot and ended up driving it towards the covers, where stationed fielder Unmukt Chand stretched forward to take a low catch.

However, despite Faf du Plessis's early exit, the other opener, Devon Conway, refused to be deterred and launched an aggressive assault on the Knight Riders' bowlers. He blazed his way to a quickfire 55 runs off just 37 deliveries, ensuring a solid start for the Texas Super Kings.

David Miller also joined the run-scoring spree, smashing 61 runs off a mere 42 balls, including two boundaries and four sixes. The South African batter played a crucial role in elevating the Texas Super Kings' innings to a mammoth total of 181 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allocated 20 overs. 

In response, the bowlers of the Texas Super Kings rose to the occasion, dismantling the batting lineup of the Los Angeles Knight Riders who could only manage 112 runs in 14 overs. 

The standout performer among the bowlers was Mohammad Mohsin Khan, who claimed an impressive four-wicket haul. Additionally, Juan Rusty Theron and Gerald Coetzee made valuable contributions, picking up two wickets each. Calvin Savage and Dwayne Bravo picked up a wicket apiece.
