Jamie Smith made a promising start to his Test career against West Indies at Lord's in July, and now has gone a notch higher by becoming the youngest English wicketkeeper to score a Test century. 

He has scored his maiden hundred against Sri Lanka on Day 3 of the first Test match against Sri Lanka at Old Trafford, Manchester and it was a brilliant knock under pressure which speaks a lot about the temperament of the man.

Jamie Smith Delivers Under Pressure

Smith came out to bat at number 6 with England in a spot of bother at 125-4, but did not let the pressure get into his head, and continued to play free-flowing cricket. He got to his century in just 136 balls and it came on the third ball of the 77th over when Smith clipped a full delivery from Rathnayake to deep mid-wicket. 

The batters took two runs and the whole Old Trafford Stadium was on its feet, including the England dressing room as the young batter soaked in all the applause.

Jamie Smith eventually scored 111 off 148 balls and his knock has taken England's lead in the first Test over 100 which is a big boost on a pitch that has some help for the bowlers.
