Experienced Indian batter Shreyas Iyer had a fabulous outing in Kolkata Knight Riders' ongoing IPL 2024 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, as he struck a valiant fifty to help his side post a formidable total.

However, he got out soon after completing his half-century, with Faf du Plessis' sensational running catch bringing an end to his innings.

The incident occurred during the 18th over of KKR's innings when Iyer and Russell were trying to finish things on a high note.

After conceding a leg-bye single, Green bowled a full-length ball, inviting Iyer for an aggressive shot.

The KKR skipper hammered it down the ground only to see Du Plessis' magnificent catch dismissing him.

As soon as Iyer connected the ball, Du Plessis, stationed at long off, ran towards his right and held on to a spectacular catch by diving forward.

After getting out, Iyer looked stunned, as he had hands on his head. However, Iyer's departure brought Ramandeep Singh into the middle, who struck a blistering cameo to ensure a fitting finish for the hosts.

Riding on a superb collective batting effort, KKR posted a mammoth 222-run total on the board.
