Royal Challengers Bengaluru's(RCB) pacer, Mohammed Siraj, advocates for the removal of the IPL's Impact Player rule, emphasizing its lack of assistance to bowlers on already flat wickets.
Siraj wants to remove Impact Player Rule
Expressing his views ahead of RCB's clash against KKR, Siraj highlighted the challenges faced by bowlers due to aggressive batting on placid pitches.
Siraj remarked, "Please remove this impact sub thing. There is already nothing for the bowlers to do because the wickets are already flat. It used to be slow at times, but these days the batters hit everything with absolute everything."
He emphasized the need to stay positive amidst challenges, while also sharing his intent to maintain consistency despite the difficult conditions.
At Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the star right-arm fast bowler makes his comeback to the playing XI against KKR.
"My game plan is to be consistent. If a good ball gets hit, so be it. It's been a long time since teams made 250+, but it's become such a common feature now," Siraj remarked, reflecting on the changing dynamics of T20 cricket.
The Impact Player rule, introduced in 2023, allows teams to substitute a player during the innings, a change that hasn't received universal acclaim. India's captain and Mumbai Indians(MI) star Rohit Sharma has also expressed skepticism towards the rule.
Siraj's form in IPL 2024 has been concerning for RCB, with only four wickets in six innings before the start of today's match. Despite this, he remains determined to improve his performance, returning to the playing XI against KKR at Eden Gardens.
