The Legends League Cricket 2024 is up and running in style and the first match turned out to be a last over thriller where Konark Suryas Odisha pulled off a win against Harbhajan Singh's Manipal Tigers. Irfan Pathan is the captain of Odisha and with 13 needed off the final over to win for Tigers, Pathan took the responsibility and bowled a brilliant over to start his team's season with a win.

It was a low-scoring game and Konark Suryas Odisha scored  104 while batting first. Irfan was the highest-scorer with the bat as well as he notched up 18 off 23 balls. In reply, Tigers were off to a disastrous start and were reduced to 38 for 6 at one point in time. However, Daniel Christian scored crucial 30 runs and found an able partner in the form of Obus Pienaar. 

The equation came down to 13 needed off the final over with Anureet Singh and Pienaar at the crease, and the first ball was a wide. The legal first ball then went for a six and it looked like Manipal Tigers would clinch the game.

Irfan Pathan Shows His Experience

However, with six needed off five, Irfan Pathan showed his class. The second ball went for a single to deep mid-wicket and then the third delivery was a lovely slower delivery. Pienaar missed his heave and could manage just a single on the fourth one as well. The fifth ball again went for just a single and on the final delivery, Piennar holed out at deep mid-wicket with Ambati Rayudu grabbing a brilliant catch.

It was Irfan Pathan's first over of the game, and before him, the likes of Vinay Kumar, Shahbaz Nadeem and Dilshan Munaweera picked two wickets apiece to pull off an incredible win for Odisha.
